Hey heart breaker

Anyone who has ever watched TV at my home with me will know that I have a dreadful habit of channel surfing. So, tonight  as I tucked myself in for a night of X Factor, I flicked across to a show that really raised many issues for me…The Bachelor.

I know Tim (The Bachelor) and I also know one of the girls competing for his attention so I decided to watch it and see what it was all about. I sat there applaud that this trash was being aired on a Sunday night during family time but most of all, I was really saddened by the girls and the shear desperation that some of them portrayed.

In an era where women have fought so hard for equality, here I was watching 25 girls destroy that as they totally gave away their power, grace and class to a man that had not even proved to them that he was worth his salt.

This show sends such a shocking message to girls. It puts women against women and says in order to be special, you need to wait for some man to choose you.

So here is my love advice to all you girls (and boys) out there. Never compete for love, if someone truly adores you, together you will choose each other. No man should ever make you feel insecure about yourself.

You don’t need someone to make you a better person, you  are already whole and incredible as you are but the right person for you will do anything in their power to treasure you, nurture your love and bring out the absolute best in you.

Relationships that are based on insecurities, guilt, game playing, no communication, jealousy and manipulation are all fear based and no good can come from this.

Hold your head high, know how incredible you are. Shine your light and never lower your standards for you deserve the best and even if it takes a while to find this, find love and joy in the world and people around you.

“The best love is the kind that awakens the soul, that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. That’s what I hope to give you forever.” – The Notebook
